Drifting Skiff~ The skiff already has several inches of water in her, but the reflection of the clouds rolling in tells us the calm blue sky of this early morning quiet is soon to shift to another day of rain.
South End Reflection, Portsmouth, NH Catching the early moring light with the calm brought by a slack high tide lines up only a few times a summer. Cooperative weather and other elementsmake it a rare day!.
Mackerel Cove, Maine ~Just as Quintessential Mane harbor as there is, a safe mooring place for lobster boats and sailboats too.
Schooner Sunset ~ I caught this fantastic sunset with the sillouetted Roseway, while standing in a moving yawl boat with a 1/4 second shutter speed! I had to perfectly time the backward motion of the camera to offset the boat's forward motion. Lucky works too!
A close up of some of the rigging and brightwork on the smallest of the tall ships- The Providence
An amazing sunrise on Mountainview Lake in Sunapee NH. Wonderful colors, calm water and the promise of a wonderful summer day. Reminiscent of small or large lake sunrises or sunsets alike everywhere.
Illuminated Acadia~ The fog rolled in off the cold North Atlantic and shooting straight into the sunrise the tall Maine spruce scatter the fog with piercing lines, their silouettes creating the "beams" of light in the mist.
Suspended Skiff~ Early light illuminates the skiff on absutely still water creating a perfect reflection. I absolutly love the simplicity in scenes like this and the calming effect it can have on us.
Market Square on a Snowy Night, Portsmouth, NH~ A very windy mornng after a holiday snowfal and pouring rain just beginning. I had but on shot and guessed at the 2 second exposure. Even with my car some 20' away I was still soaked when I got in. Again...lucky is good!
Nature's texture~ The shapes and reflections of hte Pickerel weed are so simple yet complex too. I have several images of this lake weed and they all present a little differently depending on the lighting and the composition.
Perfect Subtlety, Portsmouth, NH The tugs , red sailboat and the various bricks of the buildings combined with the soft gray sky and the humidity n the air after the nights fresh snow reult in this nearly monochromatic image...I think probably my most "artisitic" of the tugs.
Bass Harbor, Maine~ Just the right amount of fog as it drifted in and out druing the sunrise provides a very natural depth of field and obscures some of the detail, leaving our mind to fill in the blanks.
Painted Reflections~ This Southwest Harbor, ME., image captures the classic lines on the boats with their magnifiscent reflection that looks like it may have been literally painted on the water.
Monument Valley, UT The color of the sand and rock formations under the expansive sky...the yucca and sage brush bring in some spot color. It is no wonder to me why the Navajo Indians believe as they do about such things as the earth, the sky and time.
Acadia Sunrise ~ Acadia NP, Maine ~ A mid summer sunrise, the sweet smell of the salty air literally clenses the soul. Truly one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
Kelp Confusion~ This washed up bed of kelp and seaweed covered a huge area off of Ship Harbor Trail located on the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Iland and Acadia NP. A short but wonderous trail through dark pine forest and hidden coves. Perfect for starting or ending any day here!

Floating Dory~ The dory sits overturned on a floating dock. The fog, amount of light in the forground and the calm water provide the illusion it is floating in thin air!
